Patch 1.0.8 is up; the DLC is not.

Patch 1.0.8 has now hit The Steam. We’ll be pushing patches out to the Humble Indie Bundle download-page and to Desura shortly. There are a few crashes that slipped by us – most notably, one crash in the crafting system, one crash drinking the new Diggle Nog, and one crash with the new vending machine looting; we’ll be mopping those up and putting out a hotfix tonight. We’re also not sure what’s going on with OS X yet, other than “a very bad thing”, but we’re trying to get this sorted out as well. Our current theory is that Dredmor is being haunted by the vengeful ghost of Steve Jobs, who was never keen on having games for OS X anyway.

… so, yeah. Hang tight, we’ll get this sorted, and in the mean time don’t drink the Diggle Nog. (This is good advice for life.)

DLC: We’re still waiting on a release date from Valve for this, but it is done. Unfortunately, the media seems to be running with the idea that it is out today as well. It’s not. It’ll be a bit; everything gets very silly at Christmas.

There has also been a request for a Changelog: we’ve posted it below.

It now crashes when you clear a monster zoo randomly.

It crashes on interaction with vending machines if you have burglary

It crashes if you hit craft with an empty pane open (because sometimes it won’t load the list)

Whilst I am grateful for the continued support. Repeatable showstopper bugs are the kind of thing you absolutely can’t allow to land in a patch, it just causes people to go all internet rage. I have just had my progress on a monster zoo zapped because I had the audacity to kill the last monster in it for my reward. This happened twice. I am annoyed now *angry diggle face*

    Get this fixed ><

I’m wondering if this is a nerf or a bug:

Casting monsters (like the mindflayer and scarecrow types) no longer move toward me on detection but will still cast when I’m in range.
I had a melee build that ended up with about 20 casters left over from a monster zoo.

One thought on the quest statues and the map — when a statue hasn’t been used it’s a drab dull color on the map but when it’s used it turns bright yellow. This seems backwards — it seems harder to find the unspent statues than the spent ones and once I spend them I have no use for them AFAIK.

Loading a savegame with deadshot crashes the game a.t.m…Annoying since it prevents you from continuing these savegames…

Favorite nerf – can’t unstack items now.

You still can. Same way I did before this patch, ctrl+alt+click will grab an item off a stack. At least I think that’s what you mean; I use it when I get a second crafting item.

Favorite (Or I guess least favorite)

Lucky Pick is at the end of the burglary tree now; how am I supposed to get tons of free XP?!?!?!?

My favorite nerf is not being able to place crafting ingredients into a tool and craft items I haven’t found the recipe for yet.

I’m getting crashes loading my old save games. But then again, why are we getting more crashes than usual? I can confirm all of the second commenter problems as I have them as well.

Favourite nerf? How about not being able to use your crafting items for additional storage space!

When I use the n-dimensional lathe, the crafting menu is empty and when I try to move the selection around, it crashes my game. I guess it’s a great way to get that achievement?

Oh man! Any way to get an update to automatically empty out your inventory that’s carried in your smithing / tinkering / etc items? Or a way to roll back to 1.6 to get these items out before the update?

Thanks for the reply. I’ve sent off the save file.

any chances that you will update the version of the ‘Humble Introversion Bundle’ package? Or won’t you feature this “download platform”? It would be great, because I am not a real friend of Steam.

    Anyway…wonderful game!!!

  16. Sam says:

I’ve so far had 5 different crashes since the new patch compared with none beforehand. The were all doing different things, no pattern.

Also I hate the fact the new crafting menu doesn’t have any rollover tooltips so I don’t know what it is I’m crafting. I’m assuming this is just another shoddy bug that’s got in.

Maybe it’s just mine, since I haven’t found any other mention yet, but Five-Fingered Discount is no longer showing up as an ability after putting a point into it in the skill tree. Can’t find it in the menus, not anywhere.

can you release the Patch as Downloadable Patch for linux, as long as the Humble Bundle doesn’t upload it?
