Dredmor Expansion: “You Have To Name The Expansion Pack” screenshots

You have to name the expansion pack tomorrow because You Have To Name The Expansion Pack is launching tomorrow! What will you name the expansion pack tomorrow, June 5th, when You Have To Name The Expansion Pack is released?*

* Admittedly, this is a rhetorical question. Feel free to share your expansion pack name in the comments though.

To repeat: You Have To Name The Expansion Pack goes live tomorrow!

… and if you’re on Steam, so does the Dungeons of Dredmor Steam Workshop.

Neat-o!

Let us take this moment to review the features during this super-fun review! Gaslamp Games takes no responsibility for conniptions caused by experience of super-fun.

4 new skill-lines: Defend the queen with your steam-powered mechanical might as the Clockwork Knight, discover and utilize uniformly dangerous devices as the Rogue Scientist, use rocks to kill people the way nature intended as the Battle Geologist, and be a wizard that really wishes they were a warrior, with the skill that features one of the most ridiculously over-scripted spells in the game thus far, with Warlockery.

So I heard you like skills.

(Some old favourites in the core game have been given an overhaul as well, particularly some rebalancing of Astrology and a touch of zombie-master powder added to Fleshsmithing. And for those who harbor a secret, shameful love of crafting, all craft skill lines have been extended and each can craft some kind of item to give even more crafting skill for those really high level recipes. In the Realm of the Diggle Gods, Piracy‘s Broadside also got some more oomph, and probably a bunch of other stuff I don’t remember.)

But that’s not all. We couldn’t just leave it at that. Unnatural urges combined with a pack of manic modders mobbing mod development compelled us to include even more in this expansion pack which must be named.

Dredmor’s dastardly labyrinth of death has been extended by a series of twisty little rooms, all different, ranging from the Lutefisk Kitchen (it is filled with lutefisk and love) to the Commando Control Centre (it is filled with Commandos and controls, presumably) to some room that has this comment attached to it:

<!– It’s a room shaped like a foot. That’s all. –>

And minecarts. You mustn’t forget the minecarts.

Minecarts! These are why the Dwarven plastics industry held out for so long in the war with the Elves.

Oh, and there are Tesla coils with attendant robots, naturally:

I neglected to mention that there are many new craftable crafts which you must craft - but only after you Name The Expansion.

But what use is a room if it isn’t filled with monsters trying to kill you for stealing their eggs? No use at all, we say! Here is a list of new types of Diggle:

  • Diggle Mage
  • Diggle Archmage
  • Diggle Artist
  • Diggle Rocketeer
  • Diggle Insurrectionist
  • Deep Diggle Chef
  • Deep Diggle Astronaut
  • Deep Diggle Smith
  • Deep Egg-laying Diggle
  • Deep Fungus Diggle
I actually made half of those up. Nonetheless, half of them are real and Dredmor modders are probably crazy enough to implement all of them by this time next week. And that’s why we love them.

(We did, however, have Mr. Triolo create one new monster for this expansion. You’ll find it soon enough.)

I’ve strayed a bit from any official list and the coffee-shakes are hitting me again, so the heck with it, I’ll just dump the rest of the screenshots and get it done with.

Don't listen to that purple potato. Use the Death Ray. It will silence all discontent.

A diggle being hit by the new Seismic Uppercut ability finds the situation uncomfortable via our Realistic Conversation Engine. Let it not be said that Dungeons of Dredmor does not delve the darkest depths of the diggle psyche.

A tasteful wooden door - quick, smash it!

I bought Dredmor Complete from Steam, but somehow didn’t notice it didn’t automatically install this ‘free’ expansion so I’ve been playing without it!

You should add this to Dredmor and Dredmor complete on Steam so people aren’t missing out.

Or why not just patch this right into the base?
